Club Notes

Dear Windyrush Family:

As we all reorganize our daily lives during this unprecedented time, your Windyrush board is monitoring all local and state information about the COVID-19 pandemic. Our primary concern is always the safety and well-being of our members, even more so now.

Currently, our tennis courts are open for play, with the following modifications:

  • Use of the ball machine is suspended.
  • All league play and youth clinics are suspended.
  • Adult clinics are still available with restricted participation.
  • All brushes/squeegees/line rollers and score boards have been removed.
  • To reserve a court, use ReserveMyCourt.com (directions on how to login are on the Windyrush website under “Tennis”).

We understand that a few hours of tennis, outdoors in this fresh air, can be a welcome diversion from the cabin fever we all may be experiencing. For your safety, we ask that you bring your own water bottle or cooler, and do not share it with others. Also, bring your own Clorox wipes to clean any hard surfaces after use (including bathroom handles and doors). These temporary policies may change, as well as the status of our courts, as we get updated information. We will meet again as a board on April 5th and reassess.

We are also cancelling the Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 11th, in compliance with the governor’s mandate on public gatherings.

Our pool is scheduled to open on Saturday, May 16th. We have not made any decision yet on delaying the start of pool season. That will certainly be influenced by the status of the outbreak at that time. We can assure you that when we do open, it will only be after we have received a clean report from the inspector and taken all necessary sanitary precautions.

If you have any questions, please reach out to any of our board members.

Thank you, Windyrush Country Club Board

Pool News

We are excited to announce that Barbara Owens will be our Pool Manager this season! Barbara rejoins us with years of experience as a past Assistant Pool Manager 2008-2010, Pool Manager 2010-2015 and recently as a welcome attendant. She is originally from Winston- Salem but has been in Charlotte for 30 years. Barbara is math teacher previously with CMS and currently at The Fletcher School. She and her three daughters have been members at Windyrush since 2008. Barbara loves the beach, hanging out with my family and spending time at Windyrush. She looks forward to continuing the Windyrush tradition as a fun and safe place for members of all ages!

Swim and Dive Team Information

Windyrush Members- believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about Swim and Dive team! Registration for the 2020 season will open April 1 and run through April 30. Late registrations will not be accepted this year. Please plan accordingly.

Registration will occur on our Swimtopia website. If you already have an account, please use it and do not create a new one. All of your prior year’s information will auto-populate when you log in.

Important items to read thoroughly before you register:

  • You must sign up for your volunteer positions during registration. Print out the attached calendar, make note of meet dates, and sign up for jobs that do not coincide with your family vacation plans. Please note that there are two tabs- one for swim and one for dive.
  • Each family is required to earn two points for its first athlete- a point is equivalent to a job worked for half a swim meet or a full dive meet. If you have more than one athlete, your family will need to earn three points. These requirements are separate for Swim and Dive. Therefore:
  • One swimmer OR one diver = two points on the appropriate team
  • Two+ swimmers OR two+ divers = three points on the appropriate team
  • One swimmer and one diver = two swim points AND two dive points
  • One swimmer and one child who swims and dives = three swim points AND two dive points
  • You get the idea- basically- look at swim and dive separately for this one requirement of the season
  • Payment is required when you register. Costs are as follows:
  • First swimmer or diver: $85
  • Additional swimmers or divers: $80
  • Dual Swimmer/Diver: $127.50
  • Seahorses: $50 *** this is our four-year-old developmental swim team. Seahorses do not participate in meets and they do not count toward a family’s total volunteer requirement.

I promise it isn’t as complicated as it sounds. If you have questions that your veteran-swim-family neighbors can’t answer please feel free to email Jennifer Briggs at jennylynn4841@gmail.com
