Our pool season ended sooner than expected due to Hurricane Florence. We hope that all of you fared well in the storm. Our thoughts continue to be with those still recovering on the East Coast. Windyrush had water in the parking lot and the dumpster floated into the woods (we are still trying to get it back in place). Even though we closed a little early we did have a wonderful safe and fun filled summer! Soon cooler temperatures will arrive as we welcome fall. This is usually a quiet time on the pool deck and a busy time on the courts however we are excited to let the membership know that soon you will see a lot of activity at the pool house. We are going to update our pool house and create a new pool entry area. The main parking lot will be repaved and the lower parking lot will be repainted. We are excited to see the transformation of this building!
Our Annual Membership Meeting will be held in November. As soon as a date and location are finalized we will update everyone. At this meeting the membership will be electing 5 Board Members. Members have 1 vote per family. The positions up for re-election this year are President, Secretary and three at-large positions (marketing, socials and men’s tennis representative). Current board members, Todd Leahy is running for President, Secretary is an open position, Barry Reeves is running for at-large marketing, At-large socials is an open position, and Mike Waleski is running for men’s tennis representative. Two board positions of the five open are running unopposed.
Even though we have members willing to serve in the above positions, if you or someone you know is interested in serving on the board, please send your name or your friend’s name to [email protected]. Board officers’ will serve a two-year term, attend monthly meetings and have a membership dues benefit after serving one year.
A nominating committee made up of the Board President, Secretary, Club Manager and two current Windyrush members will be reviewing all nominations and presenting the names for election to the membership at the upcoming Annual Membership Meeting. A Board candidate newsletter will be emailed soon to provide more details about all nominees.
Yearly membership renewals will be emailed November 1, 2018. Dues for the coming year are $775.00 and payable by March 1, 2019. You may receive an early payment discount of $30 if payment is received by January 1, 2019 making the amount due $745.00.
The initiation fee for new members is $1,500.00. We will still offer the option to pay a partial initiation fee payment of $1000.00 upon joining, one year later the balance of $500.00 is due. Future applicants will pay a $100.00 non-refundable application fee to be added to the waiting list. The application fee will be applied to their membership dues once membership space is available.
If you do not plan on renewing your membership, please let us know as soon as possible so we can contact the people on our waiting list.

Well, Fall isn’t even here yet temperature wise. But, the leaves are following their internal circadian calendar. Any time anyone feels the urge c’mon out and help blow leaves. “They say” Jay it will help your serve. Matt it will help your volley. Mike, it will just help. Moving on.
We didn’t get to have our Tom Sawyer Huck Finn Social due to Florence. However, we were so fortunate compared to our friends and neighbors nearer the coast. Being a Florida boy, I have experienced some real humdingers. Florence was a real catastrophe. Good Thoughts to all who were affected.
The next social will be Friday, October 26th at 7pm. Theme to be decided according to the stars and planet alignment. Current class offerings for adults:

Unfortunately I can’t have a class with no one showing up or perhaps just one person. So. Going forward. I will wait to hear from those men who signed up and we will hold class when attendance warrants. If we need to change the time and/day, give me your suggestion.
Wow, I’ve never covered men’s tennis more than the ladies. Back to the women.
